Apple has presented its new iPhone 15 family and brings with it important news. However, the surprise that no one expected was lower prices. Yes, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are cheaper than the iPhone 14 in Mexico.

There are two main factors that result in cheaper iPhone 15s. First, in the United States, the new iPhones maintain their prices, there is no increase compared to the previous generation. Starting from this point, the depreciation of the dollar against the peso is the decisive aspect that causes the iPhone 15 to have lower prices than the previous generation.

Best iPhone for less money
Speaking of numbers, as of September 12, the dollar is quoted at 17.23 pesos, that is, a depreciation of approximately 17% compared to September 7, 2022, the presentation date of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, when it was listed on 20.63 pesos. This has resulted in notable price reductions across the entire iPhone 15 family.

The official prices of the iPhone 15 in Mexico start below 20,000 pesos, something that has not been seen for a couple of years with the iPhone 13 Mini. The price comparison between iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 looks like this:

The iPhone 15 Pro has prices that are noticeably lower than the iPhone 14 Pro. In its base 128 GB version the discount is 2,000 pesos, but it quickly drops to 3,000 pesos, 3,500 pesos and up to 4,000 pesos in its 256 GB variants , 512 GB and 1 TB respectively.

The price reductions on the iPhone 15 Pro Max are the same as those seen on the iPhone 15 Pro. The important thing to note here is that the 128 GB base model disappears, now the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at 256 GB and maintains the price of the 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro Max, meaning that not only does it not increase in price but it also offers double the memory. This new Apple strategy is the same one that Samsung applied in the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5.

In this way, for the first time in Apple’s history, a new generation of iPhone did not increase its maximum price in Mexico, on the contrary, it decreased, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max costs 37,999 pesos, dropping from the 41,999 pesos of the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The 128 GB iPhone 15, the base model of the entire family, is the one with the least price reduction, but it is still interesting: 1,500 pesos. Its 256 and 512 GB variants have more notable discounts of 2,500 and 3,000 pesos, respectively. In the case of the iPhone 15 Plus, the price reduction remains at the same average of 2,000 and 3,000 pesos for the 128 and 256 GB models, but the 512 GB variant has a price 3,500 pesos lower than its counterpart from last year.
