After the occasional unexpected delay, Xiaomi has just presented its two most important mobiles for the 2023 course: the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro. The successors of the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro arrive with relevant changes, although in this generation almost all the focus has been placed on the “small” model. Goodbye to the curved screen, a design more used than ever and an impressive overall balance. These are the specifications and technical characteristics of both models.

The Xiaomi 13 is Xiaomi’s high-end bestseller candidate for 2023. Last year, the design of this terminal was a carbon copy, but in smaller dimensions, compared to the Xiaomi 13 Pro. This generation, they wanted it to have its own identity . The Xiaomi 13 has a flat screen with a frontal use close to 90%. The bezels are simply minimal and symmetrical, something we’re not used to seeing on high-end Android.

The panel remains in a Full HD + resolution that seems sufficient at 6.39 inches (although 2K would have been appreciated), with a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR + and covered by Gorilla Glass Victus. Speaking of protection, the IP68 protocol against water and dust finally arrives. The maximum brightness of the panel is 1,900 nits, thus surpassing the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and approaching the spectacular 2,000 nits of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.

The processor is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, accompanied by up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X type RAM and UFS 4.0 memories of up to 512 GB. The base configuration is still 8 + 128 GB. The battery is 4,500mAh with a 67W fast charge, 50W wireless and 10W irreversible, no changes around here.

The big improvement comes in cameras, and that is that the small model finally has a telephoto lens. This generation we have a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle, and a 3.2x 10m telephoto lens. The camera is signed by Leica, a strategic agreement to strengthen Xiaomi’s photographic position in the market.

On the Xiaomi 13 Pro side, there are hardly any changes, except for the design. The hardware is virtually identical, with a screen that mirrors the specifications of the last generation, except for the maximum brightness of 1,900 nits. Thus we have a curved screen, with 2K resolution and adaptive refresh from 120 Hz to 10 Hz. The processor makes a significant leap to the latest generation Qualcomm, and the memory configurations are identical to those of its younger brother.

At the photographic level, it traces the resolution of the Xiaomi 12 Pro, with three sensors (telephoto, main and wide angle) of 50 megapixels. However, in this case we are talking about a one-inch sensor with “hyper stabilization”, a technology similar to what we saw in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. This sensor promises brutal results, something that we will prove in the relevant analysis.

The battery is now 4,820mAh, maintaining the spectacular 120W charge. Having a more efficient processor should last considerably longer, although the 1,900 nits of the screen could seem demanding of consumption.
